Information that may be of interest to you:

  • CUSTOMS
There is the requirement for a picture ID for clearing customs with HHGs. About 60 days ago the US Customs Department made a significant change in the way they do business. All in-bound cargo from other countries are held until a copy of a picture ID with signature is acquired that matches the bill of lading.  Further, if your HHG is multi-packed with other folks in the shipping container, Customs waits until they have received everyone's
identification, then inspects and releases the material to the port officials.
  • SINGLE STAFF NCOs LIVING OFF BASE
Per the MCO, all single staff NCOs may live off base and draw BAH.  They do not require permission from the unit or the Base; however, we provide a "Statement of Non-Residency" to the Staff NCOs, so that payroll knows that the Marine should be drawing BAH and will not be living in the BEQ.  The UPH office provides the statement of non-residency.
  • INCREASED PICK-UP OF RECYCLABLES
The Base Environmental Officer is working with the Base Inspector and others to try to pin point concerns for increased recyclable pick-up.  The Base recycling office is thorough when picking up recyclable waste around base; but sometimes after a big weekend increased waste is accumulated at collection point, and it may be a couple of days before crews can empty the containers. We are working with the Base SgtMaj to help get the word out to Marines about proper waste disposal.
