Children, Youth
& Teen Programs

Programs for children provide hourly, part-day, and full-day child care and education for children six weeks through twelve years of age. For information on all programs, contact Resource and Referral at 808-630-8323
Monday - Friday,
0800-1630.



Programs for children include:

Family Child Care Program trains and certifies spouses to provide child care in their base quarters. Family Child Care Providers offer flexible child care hours and provide a small, intimate environment for children's early development. If you are interested in becoming a certified Family Child Care Provider, please call 808-630-8339. The Family Child Care Program office is located near the Housing Office in Building #244.

Hourly Child Development Center provides hourly child care by reservation from 0800-1430, Monday - Friday for children six weeks of age and older. Walk-ins are accepted on a space available basis only. Call 808-257-8354 for registration information and reservations.

Child Development Center , located in Building #6111, offers full-day and part-day programs for children six weeks through pre-kindergarten age. Vacancies are filled by Resource and Referral from a waiting list which varies in length by age and program. To apply, please visit the Resource and Referral Office in Building #244 next to the Base Theater.

 


Free Deployment Child Care (DCC)
Help is on the way...

For spouses of Marines and Sailors deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) or Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), there is a silver lining around the cloud of stress and anxiety that accompanies the deployed family lifestyle.

Specifically, DCC is available to deployed Marines and Sailors supporting of OFI/OEF and the Global War on Terrorism Operations for more than 30 days.

The DCC relief is for children ages 6 weeks old to 10 years, and is provided for up to 10 hours per month, per child.

The care is made available through many of the certified Family Child Care (FCC) providers and at the Hourly Child Development Center (HCDC).

The Youth Activities Departments at Kaneohe Bay and Manana Housing are Member Organizations of the Boys and Girls Club of America. Programs are offered to youth 5-17 years of age, along with 18 year olds who are still in high school.

Offerings are broken down into 4 components:

All youth participants are required to register with the Children Youth and Teen Programs office and pay an annual membership fee prior to registering and paying for individual Youth Activities Programming. 808-254-7610

 


School-Aged Adventure Programs

Kids 5-12 years of age are invited to register and participate in our Adventure Day Camp Programs. These programs are tied to the Hawaii State Department of Education school calendar and occur during extended school breaks. Adventure Programs are offered: in October for the Fall Adventure Program; in December/January for the Winter Adventure Program; in April for the Spring Adventure Program; in June/July for the Summer Adventure Program. Participants will be offered a variety of daily activities including but not limited to: Arts and Crafts; Sports; Swimming; Field Trips, Music; Dance and more. Registration occurs the month prior to a specific program offering. Fees vary according to family income levels. 808-254-7610

 



Youth Sports Programs

A variety of youth sports are offered throughout the year including Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football, Cheerleading, Baseball, Volleyball, Wrestling, and Inline Hockey. Youth are divided by age groups and will compete against teams from other Hawaii military installations. Generally, teams will practice during weekday afternoons and participate in games on Saturdays. Sportsmanship and positive guidance are key components to our sports programs. Fees will vary slightly from year to year and according to the particular sports. We are also constantly on the lookout for volunteer Coaches. Call 808-254-7610 for more information.

 



Pre-Teen/Teen Programs

Youth ages 10-18 are invited to visit our drop in center located in Bldg. 1090b. Hours of operation are after school until 1930 Monday through Thursday and until 2100 on Fridays. Pre-teens 10-12 years of age are welcome until 1800, times after that are reserved for Teens 13 and up. Monthly and weekly schedules will be posted and highlight regular happenings and upcoming special events. An emphasis is placed on providing Boys and Girls of America Youth Development Programs, therefore our program schedule will emphasize such offerings. Fees for visiting our Drop-in center are included in the $25.00 CYTP membership. Check out THE CLUB section to get more information on programs offered.

 



Contracted Classes

We currently have contractors on board that offer classes in the areas of Dance and Gymnastics, Goju Kan Karate, and Driver’s Education.

 



Dance Movement Academy & K-Bay Gymnastics

Dance and Gymnastics classes are available for Kids between the ages of 1 and 18. Classes are held Monday through Saturday and encompass areas of interest such as Team Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Tumbling & Trampoline, Jazz & Tap Dancing, Hula and others. Interested participants are offered one FREE trial class. Just call 808-479-3273 to arrange your free class. Fees will vary according to class frequency and length.

 



Goju Kan Karate

Goju Kan Karate classes help in the development of fitness, mental discipline, self-confidence, self-control, balance and coordination. Classes are on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings between 1730-2000 and are available to participants 6 years and older (adults welcome). Fees are currently $40.00 per month. Contact the Youth Activities office at 808-254-7610 to set up a free trial class.

 



Driver’s Education

Driver’s education classes are offered every other month to youth who are at least 15.5 years of age. The program includes 30 hours of classroom time, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel practice and prepares the participant to get licensed to drive in the state of Hawaii.
