The Education Center provides testing including Dantes/DSST tests, tuition assistance for active duty Marines and Sailors, as well as education workshops for everyone. The center's Lifelong Learning Program (LL) provides personal and professional learning opportunities within the Navy/Marine Corps Community. The LL Program focuses on voluntary off-duty academic programs in a traditional classroom setting. Access to LL for independent duty and deployed Sailors/Marines is facilitated through online enrollment and correspondence courses. Spouses and civilians who work aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii or reside in the nearby community may enroll in voluntary education courses on the Base. Priority is given to active duty military personnel.

Our Mission
The mission of MCB Hawaii Education Center (Bldg 220) is to provide high quality off-duty personal and professional learning opportunities for all active duty, family members, and on-base civilians. Benefits include active duty Tuition Assistance (TA), counseling for all levels of education from high school completion to advanced college degrees to include vocational options. A wide array of testing options including military classification testing (AFCT/DLPT/DLAB) and credit-by-exam (CLEP/DSST), college credit for military training (SMART), scholarships & grants for military families, assistance with college applications, vocational training & apprenticeship (USMAP), and GI Bill assistance is available. A one-hour "College 101" education benefits brief is offered every Wednesday at 1130 in Bldg 220. Traditional academic courses occur in four accelerated 10-week terms with five-week mini sessions. A four week accelerated program, during which six-semester hours of credit can be earned, is available for transitioning Marines who have command approval.
CLEP/DSST TESTING DAY ADDED
(now available for testing on Mondays)
MCB Hawaii temporarily added an extra CLEP/DSST testing day (Mon) because
the Hickam Test Center is under renovation.
MONDAY CLEP/DSST testing will continue at MCB Hawaii until JAN of 2012.
* Mondays: 0800-1630
* Thursdays: 0800-2000
Note: Testers should allow a full 90 min to take their CLEP/DSST exam.

Education Know How
Sure, you've probably thought about going to college. But all of the paperwork, prerequisites and the loans you need made you think twice. Go with your first thought-go to college. There is no better time to earn your degree to give you an edge on the workforce competition. Make it happen. The Education Center is here for you!
Don't slam the door of education and opportunity, walk through it by attending the one-hour College 101 held every Wednesday at the Education Center, Bldg. 220, classroom # G, at 11:35 a.m. You must attend College 101 in order to utilize TA as per MCO 1560.25.
With the aid of the Education Center's professional staff, they'll walk you through the education maze and steer you in the right direction toward your goals.
Effectively immediately, MARADMIN 616/11 (FY2012 Tuition Assistance Policy) has been rescinded. Current TA policy reverts back to FY2011 guidelines: $4500 FY cap / $250 semester credit cap / $166.67 quarter credit cap. The only change from FY11 is reduction of graduate credit cap from $350 to $250, bringing it into line with DoD policy. All restrictions described in MARADMIN 616/11 are no longer applicable. Since FY12 TA funds are still limited, Marines are encouraged to maximize their SMART credit and utilize CLEP/DSST exam credit. Make an appointment with an Education & Career Specialist to learn how to earn your degree quickly and efficiently. The Education Center is currently rerunning all processed FY12 TA Application based on the new policy. MCB Hawaii will run an on-base, accelerated 5-week term from 08 NOV to 16 DEC, offering both on-site and online courses. Register now at the Education Center (Bldg 220)!
