Health Promotion
The Health Promotion Program at MCB Hawaii is a branch of the Semper Fitness Division of MCCS and is under the direction of the HP Coordinator. The Health Promotion Program umbrella embodies Nine Key Elements, which guide patrons to live a healthy lifestyle. Education sessions on the following material are available to active duty military members, family members, retired military, civilian employees, units and organizations. Tobacco Cessation
Tobacco use is a habit many people partake in. Statistics are clear: excessive tobacco use adversely affects health. This program provides education and motivational assistance for tobacco users who would like to make a positive change in their lives. You know it-it's time to kick the habit.
Tobacco cessation classes are held every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The classes are conducted by a registered nurse and take place at second deck of the Branch Medical Clinic. There are four classes in a session and each monthly session begins on the first Tuesday of the month. The classes are open to all active duty, retired military and their dependents and are a free service. The benefits of regular exercise have been scientifically proven to be beneficial to personal health. This program illustrates how to improve personal performance, and support unit readiness.

A key element of a healthy lifestyle is what you feed your body. This program focuses on nutrition and cholesterol education.
Stress Management
We all have to deal with stress. The key how is how we deal with it. This program focuses on everything from relationship skills to parenting and financial education.
Suicide Awareness
Life is a constant challenge. Sometimes burdens can seem daunting. This program fulfills mandatory annual training regarding suicide awareness and prevention.
Alcohol and Substance Abuse
Alcohol and substance abuse are major causes of accidents, injury, loss of productivity and strained relationships. This program fulfills annual training requirements on substance abuse prevention and control.
Hypertension
Hypertension, despite its health risk, is often imperceptible. This program promotes early hypertension identification and focuses on factors influencing blood pressure.
STD/HIV Transmission & Prevention
STD/HIV are serious health problems. Knowing the facts about will help prevent misunderstanding and reduce the chances of getting or giving one of these diseases.
