Frequently Asked Questions

 

When can I make a reservation?
  - If you are TAD or PCS, you make a reservation up to one year in advance
  - If you are active duty and stationed on Kaneohe Bay or Camp Smith, you may reserve 4 months in advance. (example: to reserve for August 1, you may reserve on May 1)
  - If you are an active duty Marine not based on Kaneohe Bay, you may reserve
3 months in advance.
  - If you are active duty other than Marine, a reservist or retired military, you may reserve 2 months in advance.
  - If you are a DOD or MCCS employee (active or retiree) you may reserve
1 month in advance.
  - Exceptions are only granted for active military change of commands, retirements and weddings. All exceptions must get approved through the
Front Operations Manager, Ms Shelley Tarmey.
   
Can I make a reservation for someone else?
  - Upon check in, you must have a military ID card. 
  - The person checking in must match the name on the reservation. At no time can a name on a reservation be changed.
  - The only exception to this would be for family members awaiting the return of
a deployed service member, and must be co-signed by the military member when he/she arrives on base.
  - If I am coming to visit a family member in the service, the reservation must be made under the service member’s name.
   
How do I gain base access or with a rental car?
  - Typically you will need a copy of your registration card to bring to the pass office.
  - If you are being sponsored to stay on base, your sponsor must accompany you to the pass office.
  - For further information and questions, please call the front gate pass house at (808)257-2047.
   
Where do we go to check in for the Lodge, Cabanas, Villas or Beach Cottages?
  - Check in for all of the lodging facilities is at the front desk in The Lodge located by the front gate entrance on base.
   
Is there a shuttle on base?
  - Currently no, there is not. There are several taxi services if you do not have
a vehicle. (Please note if you are staying at the Cabanas or at the cottages, you will need a vehicle to get to them as you cross an active runway, no pedestrian traffic is permitted).
  - For military and DOD employees, Enterprise Rent-A-Car has on office on base.

When is check in, and check out?
  - Check in is anytime after 1400, check out is by 1000 for all of our facilities.  The front desk is open 24/7.
     
What is the longest I can reserve for?
  - If you are PCS in, we can make a reservation for 30 days to start, if you need to be extended past then, please let us know immediately so we can further accommodate as space does book up quickly.
  - If you are here on leisure or recreation, you may reserve for 14 days. The beach cottages have a 7 day maximum.
  - Please note that you may only reserve one beach cottage at a time and repeat reservations must be made at least three months apart.
   
What is the deposit and cancellation policy?
  - Upon reserving, we do take a one night deposit. This deposit does go towards your balance.
  - If you need to cancel, you must do so 48 hours prior to your arrival date to receive your deposit back. If you do not change or cancel your reservation before that 48 hour time period, your deposit will be forfeited.
   
Are pets allowed?
  - Pets are only allowed in designated pet friendly rooms here at the lodge. No pets are allowed at all in any other lodging facility including the villas, beach cottages or cabanas.
   
How far is the commissary
  - The commissary is located right on base, no more than a 5-10 minute drive from any of our facilities.
   
How do I get there from the airport?
  - From the airport, get onto H-1 west towards Waianae for approximately
5 minutes, then get onto H-3 East towards Kaneohe. Once on H-3 heading
East, stay on it all the way until the end, the end of the highway brings you right to the front gate. Check in is at the Lodge one block ahead on the right.
   
If I have a friend/family member visiting that is non-military, can they stay?
  - As long as the reservation is made under the military member’s name, and they are there upon check in, the family may stay. Please note the sponsor assumes all responsibility for the members they are sponsoring.
     
What comes in each of the rooms?
- LODGE: Kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dinnerware/utensils, wall mounted hair dryer, iron, cable TV, DVD player, high speed internet, AC, daily housekeeping service. Rooms either have One king sized Bed, or two queen sized beds.
- VILLAS: The villas are fully equipped kitchens, with cookware, utensils, dinnerware, cable TV,DVD player,  high-speed internet, furniture, washer/dryer and iron. Housekeeping is offered daily. Each room has one queen sized bed in it.
- CABANAS: Cable TV, High speed internet, DVD player, mini refrigerator, AC and sink. Room types either include one King sized bed with a daybed, or two queen sized beds. Housekeeping service daily. Pavilion with charcoal grills (charcoal not provided).
- COTTAGES:  Fully equipped kitchen, charcoal grills (charcoal not provided), dinnerware, cooking utensils, cable TV, iron, DVD player, AC, high speed internet. Each room has one queen sized bed in it. The sofa does NOT pull out. Housekeeping offered daily.
