Each year, the United States Marine Corps honors one exemplary Suicide Prevention Program Coordinator (SPPC) or Suicide Prevention Program Officer (SPPO) for contributing to an exceptional suicide prevention awareness program and community engagement.  

U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Steven Reilly, the SPPC for 2nd Marine Logistics Group (2d MLG), was recognized for his work during a ceremony at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune on April 18. 

“Chief Reilly's efforts have contributed to a palpable shift in focus toward stress control and suicide prevention at both the executive and tactical levels,” said Col. Daniel Coleman, chief of staff of 2d MLG. “He has increased unit compliance with the Suicide Prevention Program 33 percent through coordination with 15 unit SPPOs, [Combat and Operational Stress Control] Representatives, and other members of the Command Integrated Prevention Team. His relentlessness will undoubtedly continue to increase programmatic awareness and compliance, both inherent to support those in need of assistance.”
