Gary Sinise and the Lieutenant Dan Band

Gary Sinise and the Lieutenant Dan Band return to MCB Hawaii for a free concert, Saturday, 11 FEBRUARY 2012, 1900 at Dewey Square. Inclement weather location will be Hangar 103. The USO brings back this electric band featuring Gary Sinise, the actor who played Lt. CH-53D Sundown Ceremony: 5K Fun Run

Hangar 101 on MCB Hawaii Kaneohe Bay
Join MCCS and Marine Aircraft Group 24 in saying farewell to the 53 D helicopter group on Marine Corps Base Hawaii. This 5K run will begin between Hangar 101 and 102 and finish at the same location. The run will take place mostly on the flight line so it will be a nice easy run on a flat surface. Take advantage of the rare opportunity to run on a flight line and take in a different view of the bay. The race is open to the public. Cost is $10 with no late fees. Packet pickup will take place on Thursday, 9 February from 0900-1600 at the Semper Fit Center. Online Registration closes on Wednesday, 1 February 2012 at 1600 HST. See this PDF for more details. Operation Ooh-Rah KIDS (Kids in Deployment Status)
Event Registration Starts 15 FEB
Operation Ooh-Rah KIDS is a fun and creative installation-wide mock deployment for children ages 7-13 years on Friday, 16 March 2012. Kids will be challenged to fun obstacle courses, will learn about military customs and courtesies and the proud history of the Marine Corps. Lunch and snacks will be provided throughout the day. The day culminates with a drill competition and graduation & awards ceremony. Semper Fit Try-Athlon: through the month of February
Complete an Ironman Triathlon in one month!
Swim 2.4 / Bike 112.0 / Run 26.2
This new program runs February 1-29, 2012 and invites everyone aboard MCB Hawaii to complete a Semper Fit Try-Athlon the equivalent of an Ironman Triathlon. That’s 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of bike riding, and 26.2 miles of running completed over one month. This is your chance to set and achieve amazing goals! Miles can be gained at the pool, beach, at the gym or on the road. So check out the Base Pool, the Semper Fit Centers, and even the Commanding Officer’s Fitness Series races count for miles! Volunteers Needed for Operation Ooh-Rah KIDS

Volunteers are needed for the 2nd Operation Ooh-Rah KIDS (Kids in Mock Deployment Status) event taking place on Friday, 16 MARCH. Kids will be challenged with fun obstacle courses, will learn about military customs and courtesies and the proud history of the Marine Corps.
The success of this event depends on the support of the volunteers. "Drill Instructors" (anyone can be a DI for this event), medics & military personnel will be needed. There will be activities throughout the day and lots of opportunities to help in short time frames or longer are available.
