School Age Care

The Marine Corps Base Hawaii Children, Youth and Teen Programs and the Office of Youth Activities are proud to announce the official start of the MCCS School Age Care Program. Before and after school care is offered to children from kindergarten through 6th grade. We will provide full time care on all
non-school days except weekends and federal holidays. The program is designed to provide quality care through a variety of activities that strive to stimulate and enrich the lives of school age children. Program hours offer 0600-1800 care. See PDF.

The SAC Program will be held in the multi-purpose room of the Youth Activities Center located in Building 6753 (on Lawrence St.). The SAC Program will also utilize other base recreational facilities as well as off base attractions via scheduled and supervised field trips. Children will be escorted by staff to Mokapu Elementary in the mornings for before school care and from the school in the afternoons for after school care. All drop-offs and pick-ups will be at Building 6753.

The fees for the SAC before and after school programs will be determined by the total household income of the family. Families can enroll in the a.m. care (0600-0800, Monday-Friday), the p.m. care (immediately after school until 1800, Monday-Friday) or both a.m. and p.m. care. Full day care will be provided during all school waiver days, teacher work days, state holidays, etc. in which additional fees will be applied. SAC will be closed on all Federal Holidays. In addition, SAC enrollees will have priority placement in the popular Camp Adventure Program which provides structured full day care during fall, winter, spring and summer school breaks. Open spots for non-school days may be available to children not enrolled in the SAC Program on a first come, first served basis, space provided.

Children will be given morning and afternoon snacks, however, children will need to bring a sack lunch with them on full day care days. The camp curriculum will be a combination of the Boys and Girls Club of America programs and Creative Curriculum, which is the curriculum used at all Marine Corps Child Development programs. Our care giver to child ratio will never exceed 1-15 and there will always be a minimum of two qualified CYTP care givers to provide the direction, instruction, and support to all of the children in the SAC program. Our facility also boasts full 24-hour security camera surveillance. The safety of the children is our number one priority.

A maximum of 30 children will be admitted to the inaugural SAC before and after school program. You can pick up forms at the Youth Activities Office or at the Resource & Referral Office located at Bldg. 5082. Register at the Resource & Referral Office. Children must be current CYTP members to register. Forms are also available to download. See to the left.

Please contact us if you have any questions. You can contact the Youth Activities Director at 808-257-2029.
